Weekend Program (sample)

Weekend Session: (Saturday, 8.30am – 3.30pm; Sunday, 9am-3pm):
  • Saturday:
  • 8.30-9.00am: Introductions to each other and the program.
  • 9-10.15 am: Civics and environmental issues:  What is civics and how to engage in the environmental as an active citizen.
  • 10.15-10.30 am: break
  • 10.30-12 pm: environmental sociology and psychology (who uses the environment, how and why?)
  • 12-1 pm: lunch break and gettting to know each other better.
  • 1-2.15 pm: environmental politics (local, state, and national policy systems).
  • 2.15-2.30 pm: break
  • 2.30-3.30 pm: economics and the environment
  • Sunday:
  • 9-9.30: recap on Saturday’s materials.
  • 9.30-10.45: case study I (students assume roles in a contemporary environmental issue; depending on number of students, there may be serveral concurrent issue discussions).
  • 10.45-11 am: break
  • 11-12.15 pm: case study II
  • 12.15-1 pm: lunch and “networking”
  • 1-2.15 pm: case study III
  • 2.15-3 pm: discussion of case studies and overall process.
